Building Homes

Since 1985, Habitat for Humanity York County and the York County community has built 25 homes located throughout York County — Parsonsfield, Kennebunkport, Eliot, Springvale, Hollis, Limerick, York and more. Habitat works to build the most energy efficient and sustainable home possible with available resources. Our energy efficient homes are designed and constructed to be durable and use less resources. These homes are affordable to build, purchase, own and maintain.

Habitat is responsible for land development, procuring all materials and hiring the necessary professional services to build the home (electrician, plumber, excavator, etc.) Community volunteers provide a vast amount of the labor. Our construction manager leads volunteers who build alongside our partner family throughout the construction process.

Our volunteer builders know that their work has made a tangible, long-lasting difference. Habitat home builds are used as teaching opportunities. Volunteers frequently report the thrill they get from learning tasks they never thought they could do and seeing a final product that they literally had a hand in creating.
